Okay thanks, I'll do that when I get home near the beginning of next month. I'm glad to hear I might be able to use X11 for all my needs after all, that will be really nice.Tell us what to run to see this terrible performance and we can see if we see the same.
Ideally start with a clean bookworm image, and describe the minimal steps needed to observe the issue.
I'm not aware of anything that "doesn't work".
Admittedly, I usually start with the Raspberry Pi OS Lite image, and add xinit and i3 and other stuff to it, that way I don't have anything installed I don't need, but it's definitely possible that means I'm missing something I need for proper performance of X11.
