I tried that version of the circuit and there's still a difference in resistance when I switch the GPIO pins (e.g. for a 4.7k resistor, one side reads 4738 and the other side reads 4163. I have also measured the GPIO pins themselves using the ADC I'm using for this test, as well as a separate multimeter, and the GPIO pins don't give 3.3V and also aren't the same (3.25V and 3.27V), but I don't know if that's how they are normally. Also, measuring the potential at the low pin gives a small but consistent voltage that changes depending on the test resistor(around .026V for the 4.7k resistor).
