3) Although it is theoretically possible to upgrade in place, it is dangerous and will likely end in pain if you don't know exactly what you are doing (and why). Advice-givers on the forum will always tell you not to do it (even though, they, themselves, have done and will continue to do it). So, it smacks of "Do as I say, not as I do".

Can't speak for anyone else but as someone who has advised a new installation over an in place upgrade many times in the past (and will continue to so advise) I practise what I preach. I've never attempted an in place upgrade and likely never will.

Please stop making general statments about everyone on here who gives advice. You might be correct for some but almost certainly (definitely in this case) won't be for all.

And I wonder why the OP has edited their posts to remove all content?
