Looks like the board got damaged and a transistor (looks like one to me, could be something else) fell off.
If the pi works fine, there is no reason to worry about it.
Make sure you protect the borad.somehow. An expensive case is not needed. Even hot gluing the pi to a piece of sturdy cardboard will help protect it from physical damage and shorts.
