A powered USB hub is not very expensive so give it a try.Thank you very much for your answer! Do you know a way to investigate this, such that I can be certain that this is the problem?This is possibly a power problem. Either too much for the Pi5 to provide or the SanDisk is back-powering the Pi. Try using a "powered USB" adapter between the Pi and the SanDisk device.
Also, make sure your SanDisk firmware is updated to the latest level.
