You are better off installing dedicated OS for sailing. BBN Marine OS should solve many of issues with using pi on a boat for most people.

It’s bookworm based and works fine on pi5 and pi4. OpenCPN is preinstalled, preconfigured and with many useful plugins. Just download and burn the image to SD card.
