You'd have to watch out for the HDMI connectors with that. Also possibly the power connector and the power button.Might have better luck with a Pi2B/Pi3B case. Given your intended use, why do you even want a separate case?
I just tried a 5 in an official 2B/3B case and it didn't quite fit. The power button hit the end of the case. That, and the HDMI/power socket issue could be handled with a bit of work with a dremel. I'll see if I've got a spare case and have a go.
Wouldn't it be less work to modify a Pi4 case?
