I am not sure why you keep criticising Chinese companies or blaming them for things they don't seem to deserve blame for.In truth they were better than the 3.25" floppy dicks which followed, which used external splints to pretend they were not floppy. constant cost cutting by chinese no-names eventually killed the medium entirely.
I don't recall anyone having a problem with 3½" floppies having a plastic case. The advantages of that over previous formats was clear to see.
The reason cassette tape and 8", 5¼", 3½" floppies fell out of favour was because better - faster, smaller, more robust, larger capacity, lower power, more reliable, cheaper, higher transfer rate - devices and media came along.
