Bullseye Pi Linux has software drivers for i2c on any pin.
However I am not sure if that works in Bookworm on a Pi5 as the GPIO system is different.
A look at that driver might be illuminating for RP1 hacking?
Or just try it?

There is an advantage to using i2c in software to fix that clock stretching issue in the old Pi's.
Too busy using my only Pi5 as a desktop replacement PC for AI fun to check GPIO functions.
Is clock stretching fixed on the Pi5?
Actually that would be via the RP1 now so not SoC GPIO.

Rolling your own bit-banging i2c is easy enough as the Pi's are fast enough to do that.
With those two Cortex MCU in the RP1, i2c could be made smarter?

We got the 2000 page RP1 datasheet yet?
