Since we are mentioning alternatives, why not "fsck" ?
Back on topic, any real reason not to get Synergy working? I mean, if you are considering compiling something else ("Deskflow") found source, wouldn't it be easier to just do what's necessary to get Synergy working again?
Note, incidentally, that Synergy has gone through some changes over the years, so I'm not surprised to hear that it is in a kinda broken state at the moment. But it seems like with some work, it could be resurrected.
BTW, and just out of curiosity, does "Deskflow" support Windows? One of the nice things about Synergy was that there was a Windows version that could be used alongside the Linux version.
