This board is no 'hat' which has an eeprom for configuration. The uart configuration needs to be done in linux.
OP should
- configure UART usage with raspi-config (no console messages on uart, enable uart)
- check for serial device /dev/ttyS0 (hope this is correct, in old tutorials this was dev/ttyAMA0)
- be aware that there will be no reaction in raspberry linux (like create another serial device) when an uart connection is active on the click board.
