Well, interesting point.Hello lukeiam,
I've been trying to reproduce this (I followed your exact steps on a Raspberry Pi 4), and I wonder if your "Connect only works after I login" is simply a red-herring, and this is actually just a timing issue?
If you wait for 60 seconds after you see the IP address displayed on the monitor connected to your PI, does your Pi then become available on the Connect website?
Firstly, I swear I waited as long as 5 minutes to see if the Connect is available. This was when there was an upgrade of debian from 12.7 to 12.8.
I have now waited about 2 mins after the reboot and Connect did come up. I have tried to reproduce it 2 times and both resulted in correct connection. Maybe before 5 mins was not enough? I guess I assumed that it will be quick because once I log in, it shows up with Connect right away.
Secondly, thanks for the support. This is the first time I reached out to Pi forums. Pi documentation is ridiculously maintained and detailed so I never had to before.
Cheers
