Camera board • HQ Cam Lens Help

I just picked up a HQ Cam for my Pi 5 camera project I'm working on. I had seen a post a few years back from a user on the these forums, crackerjack, recommending the Kern Paillard 13mm f1.8 lens to someone for a scanner project ((viewtopic.php?t=314625). I've purchased one of these old KP 13mm f1.8 lenses and hooked it up to the HQ cam using a fotodiox d to c mount adapter and have been playing with it. However I only seem to be able to do extremely close focus, about an inch or less, so it functions only as a macro lens. Crackerjack's post mentions the lens focusing from 8" out to infinity so I'm not sure if I'm missing something?

Also, curious if people have other old (or new) funky lens suggestions for HQ camera for general photographic use, portraits, landscape, etc.
