A straight ethernet cable can connect the two together. You;ll either need to set manual IP addresses for both (probably easiest), or run a DHCP server on one of them to provide an address to the other. It's recommended to use two power supplies.Additionally, is it recommended to use PoE or a usb splitter to power them? I.e. PSU -> pi5 -> PoE -> pi5 or PSU -> splitter -> two pi5s. Thanks!
While I absolutely agree with that under normal conditions, for testing purposes I have managed to boot a PI5 via the USB port of another Pi5 in turn powered by the official PSU.
Both were very lightly loaded with no other USB devices connected and both had usb_max_current_enable=1 in their config.txt
Both also reported undervoltage errors.
If worked for me but that doesn't mean it'll work for you. Try it entirely at your own risk.
