General discussion • Re: Pi 5 microSD card slot faster than USB 3 for microSD cards

Pi 5 booted from generic USB 3.0 adaptor
Boot failed in Pi 5. The generic adaptor used in the speed test works everywhere except Pi 5 boot so I will keep it for my notebook as it takes both microSD and SD from my camera.

The speed tests are for a new card, not the ones originally mentioned. The full test of the card is at:

The failed USB adaptors are physically small and do not protrude far from the USB 3 socket which makes them useful in tight situations. If I found a reliable brand, I would use them to speed up microSD in Pi 4 where I will use only one USB 3 socket for a big magnetic disk. A file server and similar can run at full network speed in a Pi 4. One USB 3 magnetic disk is the maximum storage for that setup.

Currently a small Samsung USB 3 flash memory stick has the minimum protrusion of anything that boots in a Pi. It has an excellent read speed but only average write speed.
