How long do you need it to work for? I have run several Pi4 on 12v Milwaukee fuel batteries for years now. I used a 5A buck converter, set to 5.2v and overclocked anywhere from 1800 to 2100. I have pushed the voltage past 6v without destroying a Pi4 so 5.2 is fine. Android13 or Twister OS.
Earlier Konstakang Android builds did not allow higher over_voltage for OC's for some reason this caused wifi, bluetooth and mouse dongle issues.
I could get roughly around 7 hours max before having to swap batteries. The batteries I used were knockoffs that had either 6A or 8A. An official battery would've been probably $100 for 1 4A. Whereas I got 2 6A and 2 8A for around 70-80 2 separate purchases. I used "robotics connectors" designed for the 12v fuel batteries another $15 each. The Pi4 would power down before the battery got to too low of a discharge. Too low and you've just destroyed the battery, they won't recharge. The smaller 3A battery can work with a Pi4 and screen for about 45min to an hour. The official screen is decent on battery power. 2.5-3A buck converters will not be enough. I used to use 1 bigger Milwaukee battery for the Pi and screen and a second Milwaukee 3A battery for a boombox for sound. They would last about the same amount of time and change them both out. Boomboxes was 9v (3A max fuse on the inside.) So I had some idea what it could use.
When I use the batteries in tools I have gotten them hot. Never once did any of the batteries even feel warm after use with my Pi4s or the boombox, even after full use. DO NOT SHORT the batteries out. DO NOT MIX UP the polarity. A polarity mix up once, destroyed a Pi4 and buck converter.
