I fully agree! I saw that using an LDO works for the Buspirate 5XL and my original design was using a similar setup.All this confusion is one of the reasons I'm using an LDO to generate DVDD (1.1V). Plus it is quite a bit cheaper than the dragon's tooth Abracon part.
Sent it to JLCPCB and spent two days trying to convince the customer support rep that I am willing to accept the risk and use an LDO instead of the inductor, after they rejected my design because it didn't use the RPi recommended parts. They wouldn't budge. I changed to the recommended inductor circuit and then (without telling me) they incorporated a check box to allow you to agree to accept the risk of deviating from RPi's design... after I had already finalized the inductor design.
anyway, I have the inductor design in production now and will make a slightly different board and go for an LDO there for the 1.1V.
