I dont think , the firmware of ssd was updated , because it was used / installed on pi5 only and to update firmware you require to install other tools etc.
Maybe updates of pi5 firmware changed the behavior rather than updates of ssd firmware

the SSD firmware will not auto-update!
According to your posting your link speed is gen3another 'chicken path quick&dirty' fix would be cloning the NVMe to a uSD/USB drive, deleting the two partitions from the NVMe and then cloning back from uSD/USB to NVMe.
