The only way to control this light is by physically pressing the pushbuttons on the diagram.
No, it isn't. In case of the garage door opener, the better option is to "hack" the button, as there are more complicated things going on after the button push, but in the case of led strips it may be an option to just bypass the entire controller and control everything from the Pico.

First, make sure that these are RGB led strips, and not adressable strips, which would also be doable, but are different. You would need a driver circuit for each of the R, G and B values (transistor, mosfet, or similar). Start with one color, then add the other two. Then program your preferred scenes, first on/off, then use PWM to do effects, mix other values and all you want. Each year I build my christmas lights that way ;-)
