I did when Bookworm first came out, but I'm now a happy NM user.Hello all,
Has anyone had any success doing this? My system has a number of customisations to dhcpcd, so moving to NetworkManager at the moment is likely to prove very difficult![]()
Ideally I'd like to move to NetworkManager eventually, but there's rarely a good time to do something like this, and this definitely isn't it!
Thanks,
Richard.
Here's what I found back then. Strongly suggest that you try on a don't-care fresh install disk in case of issues.
- At least sudo systemctl disable NetworkManager or sudo apt remove it
- Install dhcpcd-base and probably dhcpcd (which installs the .service and init.d file)
- If you're using WiFi, check to see if /lib/dhcpcd/hooks/10-wpa-supplicant is there. If not, copy it from /usr/share/dhcpcd/hooks/10-wpa-supplicant to /lib/dhcpcd/hooks
- Configure dhcpcd as appropriate
