I have been reading for several days trying to find something written for dummies regarding this.
I have been able to make my pizero w 2 and pi4 B into a pihole . I have also figured out how to make my RPi 4B into a wifi hotspot that actually worked.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to combine the 2 as in making my RPi 4B a Wifi router and Pi-Hole.
Unfortunately I have Optimum for a ISP so I'm limited on what I can do as far as my Modem/Router they supplied for my internet access.
As far as Networking I am definitely a noob and don't understand about bridging and many of the things I read trying to make this work. So I figured I would just ask here if there is a actual Noobs guide that is written in Layman's terms that I might actually understand enough to make this work. Optimum allows me to point my DHCP elsewhere but not the ability to make the RPi have a static IP. I bought a decent wireless router and was able to get it to send traffic through the RPi Pi-Hole which worked but the wireless router disconnected for unknown reasons.
Its a TP-Link router and they have a very short how to making the router use the RPi Pi-Hole as the DHCP which I got to work but the router itself gave me some issue's. All the green lights that are supposed to be green where lite but I had no internet so I decided to try and make one of my RPi 4B's into a Router and Pi-Hole but I'm confused how to actually set it up and make the appropriate changes for it to work as both.
I know this topic has been asked many many times but most of what I read is either incomplete or beyond my understanding.
