Python • Adafruit Python Library Deprecation

Hi,

Although I've been messing around with Raspberry Pi SBCs and Python for several years, I'm still getting used to it all - especially given that it's a moving target. What isn't helping, and I'm looking for some experienced perspectives here, is:
Why are the different references and postings of the libraries different!?

Examples:
Use Char_LCD library: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-16x ... thon-usage
Char_LCD library deprecated: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Python_CharLCD
Latest Version: https://pypi.org/project/Adafruit-CharLCD/#description
etc.

Tips? Tricks? To help with these Traps?
