Compute Module • PCIe WiFi Modem with Dual Antennas for 2.4GHz-Only

Hi all,

I'm working on a project with a CM4 which has a wired Ethernet connection to a MOXA AWK-3121 WiFi router, which is paired with another matching router across a pair of antennas using the same 2.4GHz band - the MOXAs are configured to use both antennas simultaneously to maintain a consistent connection as they move over one another.

I was wondering whether it is practical to remove the need for the MOXA router on the CM4 side, which needs quite a bit of power and costs a lot of money. Dual antennas using the same band simultaneously is critical for this application, so the CM4 itself would likely not be suitable (unless I could split the single SMA connection off to two antennas without causing too much reflection? I didn't think this would be do-able).

I was considering a PCIe M.2 WiFi modem with dual antennas which has a Linux driver and which could be easily configured to use the two antennas on a single band simultaneously, like the MOXA does? We already have an NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD wired up on the board, but could use a PCIe multiplexer as required if needs be. Could anyone recommend a board-mount modem that may be suitable, please?

Many thanks,

Adam
