What? You would like the boot drive to be faster, bigger, or more reliable than the drives with the real data on?I want to create a NAS using the Pi 5 and RADXA Penta SATA HAT and I would like to use an external SSD enclosure to boot off of an NVME SSD for the speed/capacity/reliability benefits.
I would want to install the OS as a small RAID1 across all the data drives. It will never be a performance bottleneck except during boot.
I wouldn't. At least not on Pi.
It's much easier to replace the Pi's OS if it's on a dedicated drive.
