thanks for this, it’s greatly appreciated.Start by verifying that the display works using the current Raspberry Pi OS release and following Waveshare's instructions (adding "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-waveshare-panel-v2,8_0_inch_a" to config.txt)
If that works, then look to use Open Auto Pro. I can't see where your preinstalled image link would be. If it genuinely is based on Raspberry Pi OS Buster, then it should have rpi-update installed. Open a terminal or SSH in, and run "sudo rpi-update" (needs an internet connection). It should download and install the latest kernel and firmware. Reboot and use "uname -a" to confirm you have a 6.12.x kernel.
Add the same "dtoverlay" line into config.txt and reboot. You are likely to need to also add the line "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d" to config.txt, but that may well break Open Auto Pro. If it does break things then you've hit the end of the road.
will try this and update you, my pi wouldn’t boot this morning, no light from ACT. tried normal rpi image but wouldn’t boot then realised a piece of a chip was hanging off my pi! so yeah, new pi, then i’ll try and then update you.
