The reasons for digital sovereignty initiatives include more than bragging rights.But I'd turn your question round; if there were a better product, extra RAM, more sockets, or whatnot, comparable SoC performance; would you really care who made that SoC ?If one of the companies developed a Zero 2 compatible RISC-V product, why would I switch from known software.
After SoftBank was unable sell ARM to Nvidia, the lawsuits against Qualcomm did not surprise me. I think that lawsuit damaged the confidence for third parties to create independent hardware that implements the ARM induction set.
I find it interesting SoftBank just bought Ampere. Given how much trouble Qualcomm had with their purchase of Nuvia, I doubt other companies were interested in Ampere. Fortunately SoftBank is unlikely to sue itself.
