Troubleshooting • An Operation Is Already Pending

Hi
Using a Raspberry Pi 5 with 8Gb, and Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)

I have an attached 1Tb Seagate HDD via USB, which is NTFS

Yesterday while doing a copy of files, it had a read error.

Since then, when I try to view the drive in File Manager, it brings up a box saying An Operation is already pending.

I click on the options to shutdown or restart and it doesnt do anything.

I can shutdown via Terminal, though have to long press the button to go from Green to Red.

Removing the USB drive and its all okay, can shutdown fine etc.

Tried the HDD on a WIndows 10 PC and its fine.

Tried booting up using another distro, e.g. Fydeos, and it can see the drive fine too

So being very new to some of all this, I suspect the operation I tried (copy files) has created this pending message, and its got into a bit of a mess, so looking for advice on what I can do to resolve this and whats actually happening, corrupt mountpoints or other?

D
