If you have a linux machine...

Connect the probes tx pin to its rx pin.
Connect the usb of the probe to your computer.
Start minicom.
Anything you type should be echoed back to you.

thanks for that. was more interrested in checking this from the Picos POV - debug access to the probes MCU for checking the peripheral
