Your chances are high that you can figure out the pin connections of your display by checking the PCB routing.
Then you'll need to know the timing - as said already and maybe some other details (some displays require SPI for initialization but use DPI for display data). Without a data sheet you can spend lot's of time for nothing.

sounds like you want to get red of the old electronics completely, why not look for a display that fits into your chassis and try to integrate that?
Thanks for your reply. Im starting to think I need to get into the guts of the tricorder myself and see if i can find a model/serial number off the back of the display. Im learning that having the datasheet for save a lot of time & trouble.

I don't actually want to get rid of the original electronics if i can help it. I figured if i could connect to the display and add my own peripherals, then the existing hardware/software would just... sit there until the day i want to return everything back to normal.
