I was manning the stand at Automate this year (Detroit), and was surprised there were still many people coming on who thought Pi was solely education.
That, I believe, is the inevitable legacy of continuing to allow what Raspberry Pi Ltd produce and produced to be seen as products coming from Raspberry Pi Foundation.

It may have been beneficial to let people believe they would be directly contributing to a charity by buying Pi product long after that ceased to be the case, not set them straight, but the end result is many do believe Raspberry Pi products still come from the Foundation.

That also applies to many media outlets and their writers who seemingly still believe Raspberry Pi products are produced by Raspberry Pi Foundation and describe them as such.

There appears to be at least one case of an official approved reseller doing that.

Even some in the investment industry don't have a clue. This made me laugh : "Raspberry Pi Foundation Stock Performance - As of 14-Aug-2025, Raspberry Pi Foundation’s stock price is $5.44. Its current market cap is $1.05B with 193M shares".

My belief is that while this continues, the "Raspberry Pi" brand is used synonymously with Raspberry Pi Foundation and Raspberry Pi Ltd, and/or the rest of the commercial group, misunderstanding and confusion is going to persist.

It's not even clear what the status of the "Raspberry Pi" trademark is. In various regulatory filings prior and pursuant to the IPO it was said to have been gifted to Ltd by the Foundation, had no value, purchased from the Foundation, and, still owned by the Foundation but used under licence.
