The diagnostics report has changed, it now consistently reports:
display: DISP0: HPD=1 EDID=none #0 DISP1: HPD=0 EDID=none #0
I have never seen EDID=okay, neither with the Pi 5 or the Pi 4.
I get this report whether I use my Pi4 (which has always worked) or my new Pi5. I have tried this with two different monitors. I have not been able to try another cable because I only have one micro-HDMI cable currently.
When I put the SD card back in and boot, I have mixed results. Yesterday, it worked and I got a display. When I tried again this morning, I got a blank screen. After I had done a few more tests with the SD card out, I tried once more with the card in, and this time it worked and my display worked.
Faulty Pi 5?? Maybe faulty cable, I haven-t been able to swap that out - although that always works fine with the Pi 4.
