Separate story on this. We designed a solar panel controller for a company in Hong Kong some years ago. One panel in, charges a 12 or 24V battery, then switches that battery to the output by timer. Also has a USB 5V output as we needed 5V for the processor and there was spare regulator capacity. We sold the design outright so had no further interest in it.Intellectual Property rights have been acknowledged in China since 1980.
But if you look on eBay/AliExpress/etc there are now hundreds of clones of this controller. Different colours, different looks, but all the same circuit inside. And our client no longer exists, possibly because they went bust due to the clones.
