I have a couple of Pis that I insert/remove USB plugs from fairly often. I was worried about the socket so got a short USB M-F cable that I leave plugged into the Pi. Now, if something gets destoryed bc I was channeling tarzan, I only need to replace the short extender cable instead of the Pi.
