Hopefully I'll have time to work on the $1000 prize traveling salesman problem soon. Right now I've been fighting with computer troubles.P.S:
The 2^43 bits allow to store two 2^21×2^21 size game of life configurations, allowing to play 2,097,152×2,097,152 board game of life — perhaps I will program such code later with openmp.
- Before I enabled extra redundancy the server with ECC errors crashed enough to corrupt the drive pool and turn it read-only.
- While migrating everyone's homes, I used the unscheduled downtime to upgrade the Nvidia drivers.
- The 580 series supports the V100 GPUs and my tests passed.
- After closing the maintenance window I discovered Julia insists on CUDA 13 when it sees the 580 driver but CUDA 13 doesn't support the V100. Next time I'll test Julia.
- I decided to experiment with Julia, CUDA 12.9 and the 575 driver on a test system in preparation for another maintenance window. The test system lost a hard disk and IPMI locked up.
- Fortunately, that computer is in the fishbowl so same-day physical access was possible.
- The command "ipmitool mc reset cold" is new for the day. I'm surprised a watchdog didn't perform the reset automatically. It seems watchkittens are useless.
