Apparently there is more to moving from a pi500 to a pi500+ than just cloning your usb nvme drive. I did a clean install to the 2TB nvme ssd and everything worked fine. Maybe someone that has a better understanding of the internals will come up with a migration procedure.

On the bright side the power supply can handle the internal nvme and the usb nvme. Makes the migration easier.
