EDIT: Noticed my my hevc encodings are actually 8bit not 10bit, so I was wrong there.
Will add 10bit versions to the pile and also see if they behave differently just in case.
I know about the framerate / display rate stuttering, hence my test is on 60fps on 60hz.if your display refresh rate doesn't match the video framerate then stuttering of smoothly scrolling items is to be expected.
Some players, like kodi and vlc can switch display refresh rate to match the video when running in full screen mode (i.e. not from desktop).
e.g. on a lite image, install kodi, launch it, in setting/player/videos enable set "adjust video refresh rate" to "on start/stop" and play your video.
Is it smooth?
That way it should be perfectly smooth, or perhaps 1 frame skip/drop very rarely.
I can prevent vlc from changing display mode with "--drm-vout-no-modeset" for example, which of course is when it's in drm mode.
But when it's in window mode it doesn't change anything as far as I know as it doesn't "own" it, X11/Wayland does (I think).
Will try install kodi and report back!
