An expansion on what I need. One example. 4 TB storage full of images. Find duplicates then visit a directory containing duplicates to reorganise. If I use NFS then something at the client end, the whole 4 TB has to be transferred over the network. Screen sharing lets me run the duplicate find on the server then show only the result across the network.If all you need VNC viewer for is to find the right directory and files then you could install apache2
Plus I can use the full resources of my notebook for something else while the search runs on the server.
