I have just installed the Trixie based Raspberry PI OS on my old Pi3+ replacing the old Bookwork edition. Things went well but left one issue: my much faster USB wifi dongle no longer has priority over the internal wifi device.
I had this problem on Bookworm but solved it using metrics but things appear to have changed with Trixie. I have only wifi network so both the USB and internal wifi can connect to it. On boot the slow internal device is used. Using the desktop interface I can select the wifi dongle and connect to my network, just a changed IP. However i want to do this automatically as I want to run the pi headless.
All searches end up resolving the problem for different networks, not physical devices so I am stuck
Any help in how to change the priority of physical devices such that the USB dongle (wlan1) is chosen over the internal device (wlan0) would be much appreciated
