I have Pi for a few years, but I am new to sensors myself.
The first thing i played with was a pi zero and DHT22. The sensor and board it commes with a resistor came to a bit over a pound.
I could place it around the house and SSH into it to read the values.
Then I saw about MQTT.
Now I fancy putting one in each room to test how well my dehumidifier works.
So, I tested it with a Pico and DHT22. All good. My plan was to sendd the signals to something to show its history, then I got told about "Home Assistant" which uses MQTT and apparently creates graphs, that is what i am now playing with. Using a Pi4 or 3 as the main hub.
I think I could have gone cheaper with the microcontroller, but once this is done, I want to use them for other things.
I have been eyeing up the sensor kits myself. They look fun.
