Thanks for the answer and link. What I have read other equipment with the same chipset have been successful with RPI4 as the link cormnfirms as well, but would be interesting to see if anyone else have this particular hardware, and with what results.
Many USB Chips require firmware. They have some internal firmware in ROM but can also use updated firmware if the hardware manufacturer decides to spend the extra dollar on an external SPI flash.

Many Taiwan chip manufacturers like Via and Asmedia don't publish datasheets openly, so I don't know the details on that specific chip and your product.

I'd look for something better:

* https://radxa.com/products/io-board/taco/
