RPL does not allow feature requests. And they should know, as other SBC's earlier on the market usually have button or jumper option to get into maskROM mode where you can wipe/(re)write bootloader. Same as for Android smartphones select+power+volume buttons.I will spend the ~100EUR, buy a replacement, and consider this a lesson in turning my brain on when letting AI tell me what to do. It would be great of course if future versions of the firmware made it impossible to brick a raspi in this way. How can I suggest that to the developers?
