According to what I've found from googling this, the watchdog is "enabled" in the sense that the hardware is configured and available to Linux, but on Raspberry Pi OS Trixie at least, it appears to be left unconfigured, so the timer is not set up, so the watchdog would not reboot the machine if the timer expired. However, it would be useful to have some official confirmation one way or another on this. The documentation (https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentati ... og_timeout) suggests the actual watchdog timer itself is not enabled by default.
