PiCorePlayer is not setup by installing it on top of an existing PiOS system you created earlier.
The PiCorePlayer software includes everything needed to create an LMS system from scratch, in a single image, including
- OS (customised tiny core Linux)
- LMS server
- LMS player
Start with a blank SD card, or one you are happy to overwrite, and follow instructions here:

Note that although it refers to “getting a basic player up and running”, this image includes the LMS server as well, which you will need to run locally on your new Pi, to drive your SB radio, as you have realised, now they will be stopping mysqueezebox.com.
You can indeed run LMS server on that Pi, headless, controlling it all from any other browser on any other computer on your network.
