OK well i tried the video=HDMI-A-1:1024x768@60D fix off the bat. I put it at the start of the line in cmdline.txt as instructed and put a space between the end of the 'statement' and the rest of the line ! Im not sure if this should be a space a colon or a semicolon backslash or what !

Saved the file, put it back in the pi, It didn't work !

So i read through the rest of your post and powered down the pi and removed the mini sd card before powering it on to get the diagnostic screen !

That didn't work either :/

Its most likely the cheepo Female HDMI - Male DVI adapter but i have no way to confirm this ! The cable is a Standard issue Rpi Mini HDMI - HDMI cable issued wth the Pi 400. I do not think it got much use and assume its ok !

SO what do i do ? Do i buy another adapter or do i buy another cable that goes from the mini HDMI port on the Pi 400 to either VGA or DVI ?

Please be aware that the Asus VW220T Monitor supports a strange selection of resolutions in weird formats Ive never heard of before ! Check out my link to the manual on my earlier post ! However here is an abbreviation of the table :-

DOS 720 x 400 31.47KHz 70Hz
VGA 640 x 480 31.47KHz 60Hz
VGA 640 x 480 37.90KHz 72Hz
VGA 640 x 480 37.50KHz 75Hz
SVGA 800 x 600 35.16KHz 56Hz
SVGA 800 x 600 37.90KHz 60Hz
SVGA 800 x 600 48.10KHz 72Hz
SVGA 800 x 600 46.90KHz 75Hz
XGA 1024 x 768 48.40KHz 60Hz
XGA 1024 x 768 56.50KHz 70Hz
XGA 1024 x 768 60.02KHz 75Hz
SXGA 1280 x 960 60.00KHz 60Hz
SXGA 1280 x 1024 64.00KHz 60Hz
SXGA 1280 x 1024 80.00KHz 75Hz
VESA 1152 x 864 67.50KHz 75Hz
VESA 1440 x 900 55.94KHz 60Hz
VESA 1280 x 720 - 60Hz
VESA 1280 x 800 - 60Hz
WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 65.3KHz 60Hz

If i just need the proper cable for an OLD monitor that's great but is this Monitor Even compatible with a Pi 400 ?

If i just need the cable can someone tell me what it is called and link me too where i can buy one !

NB I found this ! but cant confirm if its EDID ? Compatable ?
