Troubleshooting • Password issue with blullyeye

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing some strange issues with a Pi Zero W version 1.1 that I have never encountered with my countless other devices.

I have been using the Zero as a Pi-Hole and DNS Unbound in my network for years, and it has worked perfectly. Now I wanted to set it up from scratch and update it to a current version.

So, I used the "Raspberry Pi Imager" tool to install a new system. I chose a current Lite version of Bullseye (32-bit), enabled SSH, configured WiFi, and set up a user with a password.

The strange behavior starts with the first boot. Only about one out of ten attempts successfully allows me to access the device via SSH, although I can always see it as an active network device in the Fritzbox. I also assigned a static IP.

When I finally manage to connect, I change the password to a much stronger one. I test that it works and that I can still log in. Then, I proceed with updates. However, after that, my password no longer works every time.

I already tried using a new SD card. No change.

I have no idea what is going wrong here. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Massaguana
