so this is linux issue rather than raspberry pi o/s. got it.

i added the usbcore.autosuspend=-1 to the end of the line in the cmdline.txt file. after the reboot the issue persists.

i also tried rpi-update and the issue is also in 6.12.22 - just an FYI.

i am hoping to avoid the compile from source option. LOL years ago i was able to successfully install arch linux on a 3B+ but i would rather not learn the recompile process at this time. i am 68 years young and my first computer ran MS-DOS 3.10 so i am well familiar with the command line and working without a net. but as dirty harry said 'A man's GOT to know his limitations.'

my main 2 uses of my pi are libreelec and retropie. i have disabled the auto-update option in libreelec and i will have to test any new releases in the future to avoid this issue with it. and for retropie i will manually update o/s components as needed.

i'll run rpi-update every now and then on a test system to see if the issue goes away in the future.
