Networking and servers • Re: Install PiVpn alongside RaspAP

I thought it was only VPN clients that were available to install on RaspAP,
and that I would still have to pay for a VPN service, thus my wishing to
install a VPN server alongside RaspAP

You can configure OpenVPN or WireGuard without paying for a VPN service. WireGuard doesn't make a distinction between client and server roles. Instead, each node is considered a "peer" in a WG network. RaspAP automates creating a peer configuration in much the same way as PiVPN.

The same applies to Tailscale, which most users find quite a bit easier to setup (it's also based on WireGuard). IIRC, Tailscale is free for up to 100 devices/nodes in your tailnet. Good luck and have fun.
Thank you for posting.
So if I set up wireguard using the RaspAP admin panel, do I then set up a wireguard client on each device I want
to connect via wireguard running on RaspAP, I have a feeling I will not know how to do this as there are keys involved on
creating a wiregurard peer on each device.
