In reality, your only security risk is if you turn it into a server than can be accessed from outside the network, I.e from the Internet.
Other than that, it's not a problem, keep a good, easy to use password and you'll be fine.
Why a good password, standard use. Some other device on the network, like a printer, PC, TV, washing machine, car, plug, light,.dodgy Android phone app before they pull them... May have a problem and that may try to scan the network for devices, it may look for a Pi and then try to get access (ssh/VNC..) and then brute force it way in or..
BUT chances of that happening are probably less than getting hit by a driver*
