I am a baby at Linux systems, so go easy on me. That said, I have a pi 400 that was gifted or regifted to me recently. I've been trying to set it up to run as a desktop mirror for steam, but I can't even get started because I can't figure out how to connect to the Internet.
I followed this link as best as I could, but the poster's solution isn't one that I think will help me. viewtopic.php?t=196282
Initially I was trying to connect to WiFi and it shows it is connected, however there is no Internet. So I grabbed a lan cable and have that plugged in right now with the same issue.
I apologize that I won't have the text blocks, I'm on my phone and can't really copy/paste the results of the commands I try. But, I have gone through with IP Addr with results being (shortened)
1: lo <loopback, up, lower_up>
2. Eth0 <broadcast, multicast, up, lower_up>
inet [pi IP address [I don't know if it's a security issue to show]] scope global no prefix route
3. Wlan0<same as eth>
inet [pi IP] scope global deprecated no prefix route
When I looked up my router DNS address it was 8.8.8.8, which I think is pretty typical.
There seems to be no other differences between trying off Ethernet vs wifi, but there is nothing I know how to do to fix this. Please help in 'pi for dummies' terms, lol.
Thanks!
